In February 2016 our founder stepped onto a sailboat for the first time in his life: a Whitbread 60 named Challenger, leaving Lunenburg for Antigua with a two-man crew. Three days out, the forecast became a bomb cyclone. Sustained wind above 75 knots, gusts past 90, four days of it, then nine more days of ocean to port.
What does that have to do with printed parts? Everything. Offshore, every piece of gear either holds or it doesn't, and there's no chandlery at sea. That standard, what survives versus what looks fine at the dock, is the bar every 3D3D part is designed against.
